Think You’ll Be Bored This Fall? Think Again!
This fall, the Osher Life Long Learning Institute in Lewes and Ocean View is offering over one hundred courses. The semester starts on Tuesday, September 6 right after Labor Day, and continues for ten weeks.
Osher Life Long Learning Institute is a self-governing, cooperative educational community for anyone at least 50 years of age. Classes are taught by members who volunteer their time and talents.
There are too many classes to list them all, but the catalog is available at the Osher office in Lewes, in the local public libraries, and online at lifelonglearning.udel.edu/lewes
Just to give you a taste of what’s available, the following is a small sampling:
1. Using the MAPS APP on the iPhone and iPad
2. The poetry of John Keats
3. International Dancing
4. New Zealand, Mythical Land in the Southern Hemisphere
5. Vegetarian Adventures
6. Jazz: The Art of Listening
7. Mah Jongg
8. Contemporary Environmental Issues
9. Mapping out the Milky Way
10. Homicides in Shakespeare, Melville, and O’Connor
Membership fee is $175 per semester, or $260 for both fall and spring semesters. Members may register for as many classes as they like. Members have free use of all University of Delaware libraries and online resources, as well as qualify for student discounts at most museums and historical properties, and may audit one University of Delaware credit course per semester. Computer classes include hands-on practice.
